Attack on Titan has ended after 10 years and almost 100 episodes, prompting fans to bid farewell to the anime series and reflect on the emotional season finale.

Attack on Titan The Final Chapters: Special 2, AKA the last ever episode of the anime, premiered on Crunchyroll and Hulu on November 4 (or November 5 in Europe and the Middle East). It picked up immediately after the events of the first special, with the last of humanity racing to stop the Rumbling and save the world.

It was an emotional rollercoaster for fans of long-running anime series, with many taking to social media platforms after the finale to share their thoughts and feelings. The vast majority of viewers on X/Twitter found the episode "emotional" and "impactful", calling it an "unforgettable" chapter in the epic saga.

After the finale, one Redditor suggested giving "a moment to remember the ones who didn't live enough to watch the finale," before sharing, "one of them used to play online with me, he logged off for the last time three years ago after losing his fight with COVID." Another added: "Felt like this when One Piece reached 1,000 episodes. A lot of people sadly couldn't finish the journey."

People were feeling especially sentimental about the journey they had been on with the series, with one person writing: "All this time and yet, I didn't know I was growing up." Another Reddit user shared: "AOT was my first anime I watched as kid on the old family computer. Can't believe it is officially over 10 years later."

Attack on Titan premiered in 2013 and quickly became one of the most popular modern anime, telling a brutal story of a world in which giant Titans force humans to retreat behind massive walled-off cities. The two specials for the closing chapters of Attack on Titan were actually Part 3 of its final season. However, in January, Crunchyroll revealed that it planned to split Part 3 into two halves.

IGN's review of Attack on Titan The Final Chapters: Special 1, called the penultimate part of the final season a "masterpiece" that serves to "remind us why this anime became the global sensation it is," as the series' animation, story, themes, emotions, and characters all reach their "highest potential" in the endgame.
