Almost 50,000 angry players have signed a petition demanding EA to issue a refund to everyone who purchased the beleaguered Battlefield 2042.

The petition, which was launched on Change.Org last month, accused EA of false advertising and described Battlefield 2042 as "a mockery of every customer who purchased this video game for $70 (USD)".

The petition also said should it receive 50,000 signatures or more, one of the best class-action lawsuit lawyers in the United States is willing to take its case against EA.

"According to many consumer reports, Electronic Arts and DICE did not keep many promises made at launch, and Battlefield 2042 was launched as unplayable. Even today, Battlefield 2042 has bugs that drastically change the in-game experience so much that it’s deemed an unfinished release by many community members.

"In fact, Battlefield 2042 was so poorly made that even Steam, a highly reputable provider of PC video games, allows customers to get a full refund," the petition read.

This comes after the struggles Battlefield 2042 has undergone since its launch last November. EA, meanwhile, owned up to the game's trouble in front of investors today, saying it "did not meet expectations."

IGN's review of Battlefield 2042 said the game tries to do a lot, but only some of its experiments are worth celebrating.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson previously said that Battlefield 2042 has always been an "ambitious game" for EA, noting that much of the game was made during COVID-19 lockdowns that ultimately impacted the final product.

My kingdom for a decent anti-vehicle weapon.

Wilson then reiterated EA's commitment to continuing to update Battlefield 2042 in the coming months, referencing the announcement early today to push back the first season of live service content to early summer while it works on improving the core experience.
