Valve's handheld gaming PC, the Steam Deck, will go on sale starting on February 25, with the first batch of handhelds set to ship on February 28.

The Steam Deck is Valve’s take on a handheld PC gaming device and should be able to run your Steam library on the go. Some games will be better optimized for the Steam Deck and a new version of Steam OS will be used for the handheld.

There are three different models available for order, a 64GB eMMC model, 256GB NVMe SSD model, and a 512GB NVMe SSD model.

And we've come to learn that Valve has graded 106 games for Steam Deck compatibility. While the results aren't available on the Steam store just yet, you can check out which games will work with your Steam Deck according to this fan-curated list.

Right now, 60 of the 106 games tested are verified, meaning they should run on Steam Deck with no adjustments. Some of the highlights are indie gems like Cuphead, Celeste, The Messenger, and Death's Door, as well as some more performance-heavy games like Death Stranding, Portal 2, Dark Souls 2 and 3, and more.

Now, if you are interested in purchasing a Steam Deck, here are the manufacturer's suggested retail prices (MSRPs) for the three different versions based on storage size:

  • US$399 (RM1,670) for the 64GB version
  • US$529 (RM2,214) for the 256GB version
  • US$649 (RM2,716) for the 512GB version

It's worth pointing out that the key word here is "suggested". A dealer is free to set the retail price of the products it sells. A dealer can set the price at the MSRP or at a different price, as long as the dealer comes to that decision on its own.

So then, how much will the Steam Deck cost in Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia? According to new information released by Malaysian tech retailer Impulse Gaming, the retail price will be relatively higher than the MRSP.

The difference between the estimated retail price and the MRSP is as follows:

1. The 64GB version: RM630 more expensive
2. The 256GB version: RM986 more expensive
3. The 512GB version: RM1,084 more expensive

If this is true, gamers with a tight budget may have to opt for the cheaper versions. But even if they purchase the 512GB version of the Steam Deck, they'll quickly run out of storage after installing several games with large install sizes like Destiny 2, Battlefield 2042 and Grand Theft Auto V.

IGN was the first outlet to go hands-on with the Steam Deck and you can read our full preview here, along with an interview with Valve founder Gabe Newell on why Valve decided to enter the handheld market.
