Riot Games has recently unveiled a new champion set to join the League of Legends roster, named Hwei.

Hwei is a new mid-lane mage, the first mage since the release of Vex back in 2021. So, mage players, this one's for you.

In the game, Hwei is a standout champion in League of Legends, being the first to wield the power of casting ten different spells. Hwei's basic abilities are neatly organized into three spellbooks, where each spellbook has its own artistic theme.

Interestingly, each ability within a spellbook shares a cooldown with others in that same category. This artistic touch not only adds flair to Hwei's gameplay but also shapes the distinctive qualities of the abilities associated with each spellbook.

Hwei was first showcased during Worlds 2023, though the broadcast didn't delve into the specifics of his abilities.

Here’s the rundown of his abilities.

A cheat sheet listing all of Hwei's skills was recently shared on the League of Legends UK, Ireland, and the Nordic region’s X account.

After Hwei uses his first Q, W, and E, he can open a spellbook and cast a different Q, W, or E. As a mid-lane mage, this gives him a total of nine basic abilities, with his ultimate completing the set at level 10.

Hwei is clearly going to be one of the most difficult champions added to League of Legends and will require a very high skill set to master.

Earlier this year, League of Legends released Milio and Naafiri in March and July, respectively, before Briar made it to the roster in September.

Hwei is set to be released with the upcoming League of Legends patch 13.24, expected to roll out in the next few weeks.
