It’s Time to Pick Up ‘Sonic Frontiers’ Before Tails, Knuckles and Amy Become Playable Characters

In Sonic Frontiers, players will zoom past a vast archipelago with Sonic’s supersonic speed in a new kind of boundless adventure. This open-world exploration system is well-executed in Sonic Frontiers, and players will find immense joy in playing it.

The story takes place in the Starfall Islands, an unknown area where an ancient civilization sleeps. Sonic’s new adventure begins in a land full of mysterious ruins and eerie enemies, with the Blue Blur having to save his captured friends.

While the open world lets Sonic use his speed to great effect, there are also engaging challenges scattered everywhere. Players can enjoy high-velocity gameplay without being bound to the confines of a typical Sonic course in previous games.

There are five open-world maps for Sonic to explore, each one packed with tons of other things to do. From multiple enemy battles, and brain-teasing puzzles, to the throwback Cyber Space levels, players are free to play the game in any way they choose.

The third and final major update for Sonic Frontiers adds a new story on Ouranos Island and introduces Amy, Knuckles, and Tails as playable characters. This is fitting, considering how these characters will also be playable in the upcoming Sonic Superstars.

Each character will also come with their signature abilities, like Tails’ flying capabilities and Amy’s hammer. Players need to use their unique abilities to complete the new challenges and missions Ouranos Island offers and enjoy a brand-new ending to the game once it's done.
