Mankind’s love for giant monsters wreaking havoc across cityscapes may never diminish, which is why we have more and more movies and video games centered around kaiju. For ardent kaiju fans out there, they should definitely keep their eyes on GigaBash.

For the uninitiated, GigaBash is a Malaysian-made multiplayer arena brawler with gigantic monsters and heroes based on famous kaiju and tokusatsu heroes. Players can duke it out with earth-shattering special attacks and fully destructible environments.

The game’s story takes place after the awakening of primordial beasts known as Titans, who have spent centuries slumbering in the bowels of Earth. Now, they must battle humanity and one another for total world dominance.

The game takes heavy inspiration from classic games like Power Stone, Super Smash Bros and War of Monsters, alongside the jaw-dropping scale of classic kaiju movies. Players can assume the role of either a rampaging Titan or a Titan-hunting mecha.

From summoning lightning from the heavens to using a radio tower as a bat, up to four players can wreak havoc and evolve into a much bigger final form, the terrifyingly titanic S-Class.

Available now on the Epic Games Store, Steam, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, this tokusatsu homage has become a bona fide hit with players across the globe. Since then, Malaysian developers Passion Republic have teased a major crossover with what could arguably be their biggest inspiration.

The King of the Monsters himself, Godzilla will be crossing over to the world of GigaBash in some sort of capacity. The announcement for this crossover was announced through the official Godzilla Twitter page and the GigaBash YouTube channel.

So while only a teaser trailer has been released, one can speculate the magnitude of this crossover. It could be that Godzilla will be joining the roster, either in his original form or the newer Shin version.

What remains to be seen is whether the wider roster of Godzilla’s kaiju cohorts, like Mothra or King Ghidorah, will also be making an appearance as playable characters or as cameos on a supposed Godzilla stage.

Either way, this is a major win for an indie-developed game, especially one that hails from Southeast Asia. A similar crossover exists on the Brazillian mecha game Override 2: Super Mech League, where characters from Ultraman made playable appearances.
