My Lovely Empress is The Most Intriguing Take on The Infamous Indonesian Dating Sim

The beauty of simulation games lies with the limitless possibilities they offer on just about any subject matter. One of the most unique simulators – a dating simulator hybrid in particular – is Indonesian developers GameChanger Studios’ My Lovely series.

With the help of publisher Neon Doctrine, the previously released My Lovely Wife and My Lovely Daughter can be best described as a mix between a dating sim, a demonic creature collector game, and an empire management simulator. Now, a third entry is coming called My Lovely Empress.

In this game, players will have to balance between the affairs of an entire nation and the affairs of the heart as they take on the role of Emperor Hong, the ruler of the Crimson Empire. Instead of succubi, players will summon the powerful yet forbidden Yaoguai entities to aid their imperial duties.

Players will empower their supernatural allies and build a prosperous nation with the help of the Yaoguai. Each one of these entities comes with unique abilities to support the player in completing tough imperial challenges and improving the welfare of their citizens.

As the Emperor, players will develop relationships with the Yaoguai in true creature-collecting fashion. Players can also work with other rulers to see their nations prosper, or take an entirely different path and rule with an iron fist.

In this unique mix of resource management, mythology, and empire simulation gameplay, players will make decisions that directly impact the story. Inspired by East and Southeast Asian mythology, My Lovely Empress is a stark departure from its more Western-based predecessors.

Fitting with its new setting, My Lovely Empress features a majestic soundtrack and a mesmerizing Asian ink-brush art style that combines 2D and 3D visuals. My Lovely Empress definitely takes the series to a whole new level, unlike prior games in the series.

Like the previous games in the series, players will ultimately have to make a choice to either be content with the new empire they’ve built with their supernatural allies, or abuse the Yaoguai's power and resurrect their beloved empress.

My Lovely Empress will be released on Steam, Xbox One and Series X|S, and PlayStation 4|5 in 2024.
