New World, the latest MMORPG craze to hit the market, is quickly gaining a reputation for causing problems to PCs that run it. It was reported recently that several graphics cards (GPUs) were bricked after trying to run this game, which was developed by Amazon Games Studio.

Since then, the developers have introduced updates to prevent the issue from recurring but there are still recorded cases of GPUs getting bricked. The latest high-profile victim of this problem, it seems, is famous Twitch streamer Shroud.

Shroud is one of the many streamers who are making good use of New World's surging popularity to produce content on their respective channels. During his own recent six-hour stream, Shroud was giving his critique on the game when his stream suddenly went offline.

His viewers weren't quite sure why Shroud suddenly went dark, but after several minutes, Shroud resumed his stream and explained that his PC's universal power supply (UPS) went kaput. It is unsure whether it had anything to do with the fact that he was running New World.

Shroud later took to Twitter to re-clarify the situation after his stream ended. While he was slightly critical about New World, Shroud seemed like he genuinely enjoyed playing the game, a sentiment shared by millions of fans around the world.

New World seems to be a step in the right direction for Amazon Game Studios, providing them an impetus to produce even better video games moving forward. However, the issue surrounding bricked PC components may deter some players from playing New World or any of the studio's future titles.

Overall, we can only hope that Amazon Game Studios returns to the drawing board and take this as a valuable experience so as to ensure that players can play New World safely without worrying about their PCs "exploding".
