The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol, the follow-up that will officially focus on one of The Walking Dead's most beloved duos, will arrive this September.

AMC announced today that The Book of Carol will premiere on its cable network and on AMC+ on Sunday, September 29. That's unfortunately a tad bit later than the summer 2024 release window that was previously teased in March, but at least we have an official date now.

AMC also unveiled a couple of new images from the upcoming six-episode new season, mostly just featuring Daryl and Carol looking, well, badass. According to AMC's official synopsis, The Book of Carol will pick up where The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon left off when it wrapped up last October, following Norman Reedus' Daryl and Melissa McBride's Carol.

"They both confront old demons while she fights to find her friend and he struggles with his decision to stay in France, causing tension at the Nest," the synopsis reads. "Additionally, Genet (Anne Charrier)’s movement builds momentum, setting Pouvoir on a violent collision course with the Union of Hope in the fight for France's future."

In addition to Reedus, McBride, and Charrier, The Book of Carol also stars Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laika Blanc Francard, Romain Levi, and Eriq Ebouaney.

We first learned that Season 2 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon would be a Carol/Daryl affair at last year's New York Comic-Con, where The Book of Carol title was also revealed. It marks the fulfillment of what was first promised from the spinoff, which was originally billed as a McBride-Reedus co-starring effort.

Those plans fell apart, however, in April 2022, when it was revealed that McBride couldn't star in Season 1. The reason for that, Universal said at the time, was the actress' inability to relocate to Europe for the shoot. She did have a brief, voice-only cameo, though, near the end of Season 1.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol is only one of a number of spinoffs the franchise has going at the moment. The Walking Dead: Dead City, a series focused on Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan), was renewed for a second season shortly after its debut last summer, while Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) spinoff The Ones Who Live wrapped up in March.

IGN gave the first season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon a 7/10, with Matt Fowler calling it "an enjoyable rehabilitation of the Daryl character, taking him on a hero's journey through France that allows him to open up, enjoy life, be a badass, and genuinely change his zompocalypse footing."
